
Nostalgic Recipes That Taste Like Home
I remember back in those days when my mum will prepare breakfast for my sister and me when we were kids, and we wait at the table excitedly with the aroma of the yummy breakfast in the air.

Breakfast in the past wasn’t anything elaborate like the brunch menus we see in the cafes today. It can be as simple as a simple butter toast or a healthy bowl of oatmeal with milk, and we would be all happy and contented.
Here are 2 of our favourite oatmeal recipes with a modern touch, that bring back those nostalgic feelings of the good old childhood days.
Savory Oatmeal with Soft-Cooked Egg and Bacon

Serves 1
Ingredients:
- 1 cups of Magnolia Lo-Fat Hi-Cal Milk
- ½ cup of old-fashioned oats, uncooked
- A pinch of sea salt (plus additional for serving)
- 1 teaspoon of cooking oil (or 1/2 second spray)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon of cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 slice of cooked bacon, coarsely chopped
- 2 teaspoons of green onion, sliced
- Fresh cracked pepper
Pair each serving with:
- 1 glass of Magnolia Lo-Fat Hi-Cal Milk
Method:
- Combine 1 cup of Magnolia Lo-Fat Hi-Cal Milk, oats and salt into a saucepan and cook to desired creaminess.
- While the oats cook, heat a small, non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Lightly coat pan with cooking oil. Add egg and cook to desired doneness, about 3-4 minutes for a runny yolk.
- Serve oatmeal in a bowl topped with cheese, bacon, egg and green onion. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Serve with remaining 1 glass of milk.

Milk Chocolate Oatmeal

Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 3 cups Magnolia Lo-Fat Hi-Cal Chocolate Flavoured Milk
- 1 ½ cups old-fashioned oats
Pair each serving with:
- 1 glass of Magnolia Lo-Fat Hi-Cal Milk
Method:
- Bring Magnolia Lo-Fat Hi-Cal Chocolate Flavoured Milk to boil over medium heat.
- Lower the heat to medium-low and add the oats.
- Cook, stirring frequently, for 8 to 10 minutes, or until oats have softened.
- Top with your favourite fresh fruit or seeds and serve.
